Georgia
Georgia car seat safety guide
- According to O.C.G.A. 40-6-76 (Georgia Code) children under eight years of age must ride in an approved child restraint system and be restrained by a seat safety belt approved under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208.
- Typically, children can’t graduate out of booster seats until they are at least 4’9″ to make sure the seat belt fits properly.
Florida
Florida safety belt laws
- Florida law requires children ages five and under to be secured properly in a crash-tested, federally approved child restraint device.
- Children ages birth to three years old must be in child restraint devices of a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer’s integrated child seat.
South Carolina
South Carolina car seat laws
- South Carolina laws allow children aged eight and older to use a safety belt instead of remaining in a booster seat. However, the law requires that the child be at least 4’9” in height.
- Children who are two years or older can stay in a forward-facing car safety seat. Children aged four and older can use a booster seat.
